Welcome Friends!
Welcome to Body By Kai! My name is Kailee King and I’m the founder of the group. I have been helping women get their health under control through proper diet and exercise for the last 4 years. I love what I do and am passionate about health, wellness, and spreading knowledge on these topics in hopes of impacting individuals and their families in a positive way.
Health and wellness has always been a part of my life. I participated in Cross Country, track and soccer throughout junior high and high school. My true love of sport came in the form of Olympic Weightlifting. My Freshman year of high school I went into a local training facility to sign up for an off season running program and they were starting to recruit women and men for a new Olympic Weightlifting team. Knowing absolutely nothing about Olympic Weightlifting, I jumped in with both feet and started practice the next day! Over the next 6 years, I went on to compete at an international level with Team USA as their 48kg lifter. I had the honor of competing in countless local and National meets in the United States and in 3 different countries, Columbia, Ecuador, and Canada and was invited to Junior Worlds in Romania, but was unable to attend

For the sake of transparency and being as relatable as I can to a large variety of women, I think it's important to share our triumphs as well as our struggles. Once I started college in fall of 2008, I also started my deadly addiction to drugs. This addiction continued to get worse over the next three years. I was lost spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Not to mention, I was miles away from my roots of healthy eating and sports performance. My addiction came to a head when I had a seizure in my car due to withdrawals and rear-ended the car in front of me. I ended up staying in an in-patient 30 day facility where I was introduced to the 12 step program, Narcotics Anonymous. I have now been clean for over 10 years and still participate in Narcotics Anonymous.
After a few years clean I found my way to the yoga room. This was exactly what I needed to once again find my path to health and wellness. I practiced yoga daily, began meditating, I ate clean, and worked on my steps. I was truly happy and finding a sense of balance in my life. At this time, I decided to go back to Drury University to finish my degree in biology. I had less than 1 year left of school when an old friend, Brian King, reached out and asked if I would be interested in teaching yoga to members of a private gym he owned. With much hesitation, I agreed. I was ready for growth and opportunity and those things only happen if we are willing to get out of our comfort zone. Plus, Brian and I had been acquaintances for years. He was at the same facility when I was competing in weightlifting working for Paul Martino, his now partner in the private gym, Martino Training Systems (MTS). Not only did I love yoga and was excited about teaching, I was equally as excited to be in a gym setting again. After all, weightlifting was my original love!
I began teaching yoga every morning and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in the gym getting to know members. During this time, Brian and I had a chance to reconnect and eventually started dating. We both have a love for working out and eating healthy so many of our saturday “dates” were at MTS doing a Crossfit style workout followed by a cheat meal. Brian and I both valued our time at MTS acquiring a lot of health and fitness related knowledge. Along with owning the gym, Brian also poured his time into his business Titan Nutrition. Titan Nutrition is a wholesale supplement company with products such as proteins, pre-workouts, post workouts, powdered greens, vitamins, fish oil and much more! He eventually decided to make the transition to Titan full time and sold his ownership in MTS.
After dating for a couple years, we made it official in June 2016. December that same year our son, Samuel was born. During my pregnancy, I focused on a healthy diet and did bodybuilding style workouts. The foods you eat and the activity you maintain during pregnancy is so important! I knew I wanted to maintain this healthy lifestyle so I could be a good example for my son. In my opinion, instilling positive eating and exercise habits in our children is one of the most important things we can teach them. They, of course, will not be exempt from all diseases, but they will be at a significant advantage. Healthy eating and exercise habits will allow them to have a better chance at maintaining a healthy weight and strong cardiovascular system. This can decrease their risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and many other diseases. As the saying goes “If you do not make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.” This is something I feel very strongly about and wanted to help make this change in people's lives.
Two and a half years after Sameul was born we welcomed our daughter, Eleanor, into the world. At this time I began to take on 1:1 diet clients. After having children, I realized the importance of instilling health and wellness at a young age. I wanted to help women learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. My plate was full, but thoroughly enjoyed growing my clientele and watching them flourish, finding a new and healthy way to live with my guidance.
After having Eleanor, I found that I was bored with my workouts in the gym. I no longer found bodybuilding to be enjoyable and wanted to find something that challenged my athletic abilities. I combined my love of running and weightlifting and once again, jumped into Crossfit head first. This is one of the best decisions I made. Making this change sparked a new flame with training. It challenges me mentally and physically. Every training day is different and the friendly competition within the community keeps me pushing to be better. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, find something new! The time you spend working out should be time spent doing something you enjoy. You’ll find that our Body By Kai workouts have roots in both crossfit and bodybuilding. We will be working on strength, while maintaining good cardiovascular health. Daily workouts combined with nutrition guidance and accountability will have you on the fast track to a healthier life! Your “healthier” could be physical, or mental, or emotional health. We welcome all change in a positive direction! I can’t wait to share more knowledge with you! See you in the Body By Kai group!
